[ Prompt]

Meet Me in My Dreams.
Content Warnings: Dreamscape/Dream Logic, Potential Violence, Potential Memory Sharing, Potential Mind/Power/Etc Swap

In most of Folkmore, it's impossible to tell how deep the cracks go, their black void and nature to swallow whatever enters them evading the answer. On Never Fade, an island in the sky, one crack breaks through the bottom of the island. It devours the space it occupies and grows little by little by little. When it reaches a foot wide and crosses a third the island, Lavender declares enough is enough! Whatever Star Children decide for the rest of Folkmore, this threat must be stopped. Lavender sends chickadee spirits in dreams and reality to invite Star Children to join them.

Star Children can ease the process by coming to Never Fade with someone who matters significantly to them. People need to space themselves out on either side of the divide and connect. Star Children with bonds—soul mates, Familiar/Unfamiliar bonds, adoption, etc—are asked to go into the tunnels. They must use their bonds to find each other in a dreamscape, which will thin the void until they can see each other again. Star Children with emotional connections—non-formal bonds—are asked to face each other on the surface. There they will knit the energy of Folkmore together with yarn. They can toss the yarn back and forth to each other or even exchange yarn with someone next to them, to tighten the weave. Lavender goes hazy but walks above the crack on the woven yarn. The void fades until its blackness is gone.

The space remains empty, a chasm across Never Fade. No one will disappear from Folkmore should they fall down it, but if they cannot fly, teleport, or otherwise recover themselves from a fall, it's a long way down to go. Mildly problematic when it traverses so much of the island. Lavender asks for Star Children to come up with ideas for how to solve it. Either, Star Children will fix the problems in the process, or it can generate enough Lore for Lavender to heal the island.

Lavender creates a lucid dreamspace around the crack. The dreamscape allows Star Children to use any of their abilities, native or Role or something completely different, and to physically manifest challenges to build the Lore needed to succeed at this healing. It requires both physical and relational (Lore) elements. The greater the differences between Star Children, the more effective their challenges are at healing Never Fade. Differences include amount of time spent in Folkmore, Roles, regions they live in, worlds they are from, species, etc. The greater the gap(s) between Star Children, the bigger the impact.

The challenges manifest themselves based on the approach pairs of Star Children take to solve the issue. They follow dream logic. Success depends on both material means and emotional success.
  • Add material to fill the gap > find common ground. Examples: walk across a rope bridge toward each other, with each slat requiring saying something you have in common; fighting an enemy together with teamwork.
  • Pull/push the island together > understand a significant difference. Examples: complete a maze/obstacle course that requires skills of both people; walking through a memory that shows why the other person is the way they are.
  • Magically connect the sides > switch places and succeed. Examples: complete a challenge with a power swap, body swap, or Role swap; fight an enemy in a mech where one person controls each side or each set of limbs.

  • A crack in Never Fade gets so big, Lavender decides to banish it.
  • Lavender invites Star Children to help:
  • Star Children with bonds (in-game or from canon) go into the tunnels on opposite sides and focus on their bonds to thin the void.
  • Star Children with strong relationships face each other atop the island and toss magical yarn back and forth, weaving it together. Toss it to your neighbors too!
  • Once the void is vanished, the empty gap remains. Lavender creates a lucid dreamscape where Star Children can face different challenges based on their solution so close the gap:
  • Fill the gap with material > challenges to find common ground.
  • Pull/push island together > challenges to understand significant differences.
  • Magically connect the sides > challenges to switch places and succeed.
  • Wildcard (got another idea?) > ask below!
  • The effects/impact of successful challenges are bigger, the more differences there are between partners: time in Folkmore, Roles, regions they live in, worlds, species, etc. The challenges are just as hard.

"Huh, I'd think that that'd be more concerning if it's happening more often?" Granted, Raph doesn't know Thirteen from a hole in the ground, but since he just got here and the others are talking about how there's been more disasters and the like, that's...not all that comforting.

Of course, he's playing catch to literally sew together a chasm in the ground, so what the hell does he know?

"Only child, huh? Must be nice," he replies, though it's not meanspirited. He might complain about his brothers sometimes, but who didn't when they had siblings? "Well, I have the three - we all have the same names as the ones that are here." He isn't sure who to start with, so he just picks Leo and will go from there.

He moves to catch the ball, snagging it easily enough since it isn't a competition to lob the thing so hard. He considers what to say about Leo, his fingers drumming against the yarn ball for a bit before he starts. "Hmm, well, Leo's pretty serious? He's the leader of the group out. Kind of a nerd about Space Heroes and a dork, but that's just Leo for you."

Raph tosses the ball back when Peter is ready.

"Considering we've been able to pull things together, it isn't as freaky as it could be." His threshold for 'freaky' is also extremely high. Unfortunate. "I was a lot more worried when the lore disappeared, that was a lot worse."

Peter huffs a little at that assessment, but holds off as Raph talks. The brunette is happy enough to listen. "Leo can be serious, but, nerd isn't what I'm used to here. The differences are pretty cool to hear about though. Every universe has like a lot of variety in a lot of ways. Is Space Heroes anything like Jupiter Jim? The guys are crazy about Jupiter Jim." Peter has seen a lot of that series and Lou Jitsu movies at this point.

Peter mimes he's ready, and here comes the yarn ball. He catches it easily. "Leo here is kind of jock-y? He loves sports, competitions and puns." Fondness is obvious enough in Peter's tone, his smile becoming a lot softer at the edges.

He holds the yarn ball up, a warning before he does end up tossing it once again. "I might be a really biased source though, Leo and I have been together for a while." He says it casually if anything.

From what he's learned from a few of the others, his brows go up when Peter mentions the fact that the Lore disappeared. "Wait, isn't that like...all the connections to everything? And the world didn't explode?"

He considers this, then shakes his head. "No idea what Jupiter Jim is but if it's sci fi, then that's probably close? Leo's basically Sensei number two - way too serious about stuff at times, gotta be the best ninja, blah blah blah. I know when I met Leo here it was way different feeling from like, what I know of."

Raph claps his hands together to signal he's ready for the ball again. "Jock, huh? Yeah that's different..." though when the ball ends up coming back for him, he almost fumbles it when Peter tells him that he's been with Leo for awhile now. "Wait what? You're dating?"

A blink as he steadies the catch so he doesn't drop and lose it. "The Leo here is into dudes??????" That probably comes off as real surprised but given how much HIS brother was head over heels for Karai of all people. Yeah. Kind of a shock.

"Thirteen put us in a bubble, so, it all worked out. The whole thing was a mess though." Though Peter is distracted by the rest of the conversation flowing along. At least he knows sci-fi enjoyment carries over through various universes. That is cool.

The reaction does a fair job of making Peter blink a little surprised himself. On the edge of apologizing for startling the other teenager. "Given we've been dating for a few years, I sure hope so." He half jokes, trying to ease the shock. "Sorry, I probably should've waited till you had the ball to mention that.

"I was gonna say, it's kind of cool to compare and contrast, but- I'm fine with just keeping things more mellow. I'm sure you're gonna hear a lot of comparisons."

"So you guys were safe during all of that...that's a relief." He is still learning about how this world works and everything, but he knows enough that this Lore stuff is really important stuff to keep flowing when it comes to keeping the world going. At least that's the impression that he's gotten from the others around here.

Raph kind of gapes at Peter for a second and then shakes it off, making sure he doesn't let go of the ball. He laughs a little. "Sorry, I... yeah it's kind of surprising! My bro was like, really head over heels for a girl for the longest time, it kinda made him stupid about everything so it's like the opposite of what I know. That's cool to know, actually." He didn't have a problem with it, it was more just getting sprung on him.

He underhands the ball to Peter again. "At least I know before like, running into you two making out under a tree or something. Not that it's any of my biz, that is, but you know what I mean," he says with a laugh.

"Oh yeah, m'sure...s'bound to happen since like, me being so different than what the guys know too is bound to be just as weird for them as it has been for me."

"No, you're good. I did kinda drop it on you. You're already kind of adjusting to all of this, so, it was another surprise on top of that." Peter was willing to admit that, "Hopefully things work out with your brother and his crush. After the initial crush stage stuff balances out a lot better." He offers, utterly unaware of how complicated that whole situation actually is.

Peter steps forward slightly to catch the yarn ball pitched back at him. He catches it out of the air, tugging at the visible thread, helping it along slightly. "Yeah, I get you. Less surprises that'll give you whiplash." Peter wanted to try and least make Raph feel less out of sorts here. Even if it wasn't going to be a smooth transition. "Oh yeah, I can guess once all of them know you're here, there will be a confused conversation about it. Since this is the first time this kind of thing has happened." As far as Peter knows anyway.

He raises a hand miming an over hand throw before he commits to it. "Mikey just came back again, and there was like... definitely an adjustment period there."

[personal profile] saisdoesmatter 2025-08-17 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"I swear everyone just wants to drop things on me to watch me flail," he says, since there's been a lot. It's a little overwhelming to be frank, but he's been dealing with it as much as he can. "Yeah, it...kind of didn't, sadly. But he's okay." He kind of keeps it to himself about what happened with Karai - it isn't important here.

After Peter gets the ball again, he watches the threads weave a bit together again, the chasm doing what it's supposed to be doing as they help patch it. "Oh yeah? M'sure they'll all have a pow wow meeting or something 'bout me. M'kinda expecting it."

He nods to show he's ready, taking a step back to catch the ball again, though the mention of Mikey makes him pause. "Wait, again? What do you mean?"
heyunderoos: (Start of a smile/Interest/Curious)

[personal profile] heyunderoos 2025-08-19 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"If I start like saying way too much, you're free to stop me." After over explaining things to Mikey (And MJ to a larger extent, Peter was only realizing that now), Peter at least knew that wasn't the best thing. "I'm glad he's okay at least. I'm pretty sure you guys deal with a lot as is." He wasn't about to drop the whole 'Spider-Man' thing on Raph. Better to not make things anymore complicated.

"The whole family kind of sticks together pretty tightly, so, they'll probably try to figure out if you need anything." He is unaware Raph is living in a tree, so he doesn't have the thought to ask about any living situations.

Peter hesitates on tossing the ball, deciding to answer the question before throwing. Just in case. "He went home and came back later without remembering this place. It's a little weird, but, we're all figuring it out." He tosses the yarn ball once he's sure Raph can catch it.
saisdoesmatter: (Hopefully Donnie Can Fix That...)

[personal profile] saisdoesmatter 2025-08-19 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
He chuckles. "I'm used to my brothers chattering a lot; I'll letcha know if it comes to that." But the thought of Leo and Karai makes him sigh - that was so complicated and a lot to think about. He fought Leo so much on it when it first started but he'd always tease his brother about wanting a bad girl for a girlfriend. "Yeah, you can say that again, man."

"That's not surprising. If they're anything like my group, they'll talk it out." He wasn't sure if he liked the idea of being the subject of suspicion, but if roles were reversed, he'd be doing the same thing with his brothers.

"Weird..." Raph makes a face, though he catches the yarn ball easily enough. The thought of Mikey being bounced around doesn't sit well with him. "I wonder if that means we'll forget all about this place whenever we get released from that Fox's...well, paws, I guess."
heyunderoos: (Neutral/Pause/Quiet)

[personal profile] heyunderoos 2025-08-25 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
There was definitely a story there, but Peter didn't feel like he was the right one to ask. Dating one Leo didn't make you privy to what the other Leo was up to.

"Yeah, more than likely. Raph or Leo will probably start the conversation." Peter had at least that level of awareness about the two. "It can be a little hard to just be dropped in a place like this, so, having people to help is always a good thing." Mr. Optimism here at it again.

"See, that's kind of the issue, none of us know. Some people do just disappear and come back not remembering anything, others return with all their memories." Very comforting, Peter.
saisdoesmatter: (BRB BROODING LIKE BATMAN)

[personal profile] saisdoesmatter 2025-08-25 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Raph listens, though he motions when he's going to lob the ball back toward Peter when he's ready, tossing it when the other lets him know it's safe to do so.

"That's good to know." He might not be the one to initiate conversation, but the thought that Leo here would? That kind of tracks to his own, being the nosy little busy body that he is.

"Man...that's...depressing as hell."
heyunderoos: (Curious/Peek/Hoodie)

[personal profile] heyunderoos 2025-09-02 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter nods back, ready to catch the ball when it does come his way.

"Everyone is friendly- well, maybe not Donnie initially." He can't lie about that much. Donnie was not about to start a conversation with someone he didn't know unless forced. "He'd rather just be working on his own projects."

Peter shrugs a little helplessly back. "Sorry, its kind of just... a mystery we're all trying to figure out."
saisdoesmatter: (>8))

[personal profile] saisdoesmatter 2025-09-02 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
A chuckle. "That sounds like Donnie--at least in the general scope of things."

It's weird - knowing that people are still trying to figure things out is comforting and yet not - given that they've been here longer than him but... he can't really expect much more than that when they're all in the same situation.

"S'okay, man. Just...a lot, you know?" He gestures to the yarn netting that is LITERALLY CLOSING THE GROUND in front of them. "Like if you told me this morning we'd be playing catch to like, fix an earthquake or something---well I'd believe it since I'm in this world, but also like, that's weird."
heyunderoos: (Conversational/upside down/HC era)

[personal profile] heyunderoos 2025-09-09 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I get it." Peter agrees easily enough, "If you didn't have questions, at least even a few, I'd be kind of concerned. This place is actually kind of weird with a Capital W." He turns the yarn ball in his grasp.

He mimes he's going to toss the yarn before he does an overhead. "You do get used to it, but, that doesn't mean much to someone whose just gotten here."
saisdoesmatter: (>8))

[personal profile] saisdoesmatter 2025-09-10 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Clapping his hands together, Raph urges Peter to throw it it to him, ready for it.

"That's what I was afraid of. How long did it take you to get used to it?"
heyunderoos: (Intrigued/Peek/HC era)

[personal profile] heyunderoos 2025-09-14 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The brunette doesn't hesitate to toss the yarn ball. The tossing between them does the trick of knitting more and more of the hole closed.

"A few months? Maybe even a year. I had the 'luck' of being in a different hub world like this before hand."
saisdoesmatter: (Default)

[personal profile] saisdoesmatter 2025-09-14 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Raph catches the ball again easily, pausing only to watch the knitting happen again before lifting his head.

"You have? Was it...like this?"
heyunderoos: (Fidgeting/talking/Conversation)

[personal profile] heyunderoos 2025-09-14 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter's lips tug into a frown, trying to clearly choose his words carefully. "It was not like this at all, not beyond people being pulled in randomly." His gaze flicks to the yarn uncertainly. Peter needed to briefly just focus on something else to get his thoughts in order.

"People randomly just found themselves drafted into this company to help deal with these like unknown entities. You had nowhere else to go, because the entities would follow you if you tried to leave. It would hurt you and anyone else you interacted with."
saisdoesmatter: (VET?! WHAT'S A VET!?)

[personal profile] saisdoesmatter 2025-09-14 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Raph doesn't force him to keep tossing the ball, since they're talking about something that happened outside of this realm. He knew what it meant by jumping dimensions, but this was definitely outside of it since Peter needs to focus.

"...what, like...ghosts? What the hell?"
heyunderoos: (Dissatisfied/grumble/HC era)

[personal profile] heyunderoos 2025-09-15 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Kind of? They were like weird anomalies that could drive you crazy or influence you to act in different ways. One guy literally turned into a bear because he willingly worked with those things." Peter hadn't delved into the entities that deeply, but he was aware they had probably influenced him back then in some capacity.

"We had to investigate any weird happenings, ghost horses making you solve riddles, cults in warehouses with cursed artifacts-" Peter trails off, shaking his head. "It was weird."
saisdoesmatter: (VET?! WHAT'S A VET!?)

[personal profile] saisdoesmatter 2025-09-15 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Jeez, that sounds like some sort of horror movie. Or survival horror video game. That sucks, dude." He's had to deal with spooky shit before, since apparently his world had a thing for monster mashes and the like, as well as the weird influences from outside forces.

"Sounds like you ending up here was the better deal."
heyunderoos: (Spider-Man/Gotta go/gesture)

[personal profile] heyunderoos 2025-09-15 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"The biggest positive was meeting Leo, Donnie and Rue there. Then we all ended up here." He says with a shrug, before he finally remembers he needs to toss the yarn ball. He mimes he's going to toss it overhand before he commits to it.

The toss of the yarn brings more the hole together, sealing off one part of it fairly successfully.

"I think so, yeah. I miss my home universe sometimes, but, this has been better for me."
saisdoesmatter: (Plotting How Fast I Can Break Your Face)

[personal profile] saisdoesmatter 2025-09-16 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Raph steps back to catch the ball being flung to him, snagging it as he considers the information presented. "So ya'll met there, then ended up here. Not even did you get to go back home for a bit? Sounds like the universe just shifts ya'll around..."

He pauses to watch the hole sealing away before underhanding the ball back to Peter.

"Yeah? Even with all the crazy?"
heyunderoos: (Interested listening/peek/HC era)

[personal profile] heyunderoos 2025-09-16 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"I briefly went home for a few days here, but it was a year back home. The time dilation is... a little alarming." Peter wasn't intending to scare Raph with the information, but, lying wasn't a better option.

"Yeah, I've had a chance to relax here, even with the weirdness."
saisdoesmatter: (*facepalm*)

[personal profile] saisdoesmatter 2025-09-16 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ugh, this timey whimy bullshit makes my head hurt," he complains, shaking his head of the thought. "Things get weird enough for all of us and then there's like, different worlds, running on different times, or they stop completely because we're not like...there? Ugggggggggggggggggggggh."

Yup - that's the frustration there. He rubs his eyes with one hand and tries to shake it off. "At least ya got that, man..."
